Happy 2013! (Yes, I know I'm three months late . . .)

Exciting things are happening this year!

  • I will be attending my second craft fair ever (as a vendor) this weekend, March 9 (May Elementary School, Las Vegas, details here).
  • The official Suite Pea website is up and running (www.suitepeastudios.com), with more updates to come.
  • There are new "likes" on the Facebook page.
  • Several opportunities with graphic design work.
  • Lots of pretty beads for more unique creations.
  • And, I started a new job at Storkie Express!
I'm looking forward to what the rest of the year has in store. Hope you are, too!

Well, I haven't posted in so long that Google went and changed the format of Blogger and I didn't notice until now. Hmm.

Anyway, just thought I'd share some fonts I found through MyFonts.com. They have an email newsletter they send out monthly called "Creative Characters: The Faces Behind the Fonts" which is an interview with their font makers. June 2012 features Emily Conners of the Emily Lime foundry. Her script fonts are full of whimsy, scrolls, and curli-cues. She also has bolder fonts: "Revel is a peculiar mixture: a stylish blend of high fashion and straddle-legged western-style bravura. Use all caps for a modern sophisticated look; or type in all lowercase for a more youthful rocker effect." Check out the article for more info and all of Emily Lime's typefaces.

Onward and Upward

I purchased the www.suitepeastudios.com domain name a while back (a while back = almost 2 years ago, yikes). I ended up just letting it sit because I thought I would take the time to completely build it from scratch, even though I know/remember so little about HTML and such. In addition, the web has changed drastically since the time I took a web design course. Flash wasn't the standard it is now, splash pages were still hot stuff and no one knew what a mobile website was (smartphones were in the planning stages/infancy).

Since then, I found there were several websites that would help me (AKA let me drag and drop my info into a template) create a site and link it to my own domain. I've been working on one for a few weeks and hope to get it published soon. While it's not what I had in mind at the beginning, it will serve me well to get things moving.

I'm Mobile, Baby!

Just downloaded the Blogger Droid app on my Motorola Droid. To quote Will Wheaton, "I love living in the future!" It never ceases to amaze me what we can do with computers, cell phones and all the other technical gadgets out there. What an awesome time to be alive!
